Tragedy in New York: Niagara Falls Tour Bus Overturns, Multiple Dead and Dozens Injured

A sightseeing trip to one of America’s most famous landmarks ended in horror on Friday when a tour bus carrying more than 50 passengers overturned on Interstate 90 near Pembroke, New York, about 30 miles east of Buffalo.

The bus, which was returning from Niagara Falls to New York City, suddenly lost control. According to investigators, the vehicle crossed the median, swerved, and rolled into a ditch before landing on its side. Witnesses described the crash as “chaos,” with passengers screaming as the bus flipped and glass shattered.

Authorities confirmed that at least five people were killed, including one child. More than 40 others were injured, some seriously, with victims suffering broken bones, head injuries, and other trauma. Several were airlifted to nearby hospitals by medical helicopters.

Dozens of passengers were initially trapped inside the wreckage as first responders rushed to the scene. Firefighters and emergency crews worked frantically to pull people out, while ambulances lined the highway to transport the injured.

The bus driver survived and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Early reports suggest the crash may have been caused by a combination of driver error and hazardous road conditions, but officials have not ruled out mechanical failure.

Most of the passengers on board were international tourists, including groups from India, China, and the Philippines. Their dream trip to Niagara Falls turned into an unthinkable nightmare within seconds.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her condolences and said that state and local agencies are fully mobilized to support victims and families. “This is a heartbreaking tragedy,” she said, “and our thoughts are with everyone affected.”

The highway was shut down for hours, causing major traffic delays, as investigators and rescue teams worked at the crash site.

For now, grieving families and survivors are left reeling from a day that was supposed to be filled with joy and memories but instead ended in devastating loss.
