ICE-Involved Shooting in Minneapolis Captured on New Video as Investigations Continue
Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting involving a federal immigration officer after newly released video showed the chaotic moments surrounding the incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The shooting occurred during a federal immigration enforcement operation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in south Minneapolis. A woman driving an SUV was shot and killed by an ICE agent at the scene.
What officials say happened
According to federal officials, ICE agents were conducting a targeted enforcement action when the woman drove her vehicle toward officers. ICE and the Department of Homeland Security stated that the agent discharged his weapon after the SUV moved in a way that was perceived as an immediate threat to officer safety.
Officials claim the vehicle made contact with at least one agent, and they described the vehicle as having been used as a weapon. The agent involved fired multiple shots, fatally wounding the driver. No other serious injuries to law enforcement officers were reported.
